Abingdon Spares at the 40th Historic Festival

Abingdon Spares again returned to Lime Rock Park for this year's Historic Festival, the 40th consecutive vintage race and sports car gathering. The swap meet this year was moved to the back of Paddock B, a pretty out of the way location. So we downsized our usual display. Organizers assure us it would be back in the front of the paddock next year. We were able to see a lot of our customers during the 5 days, our primary reason for going to the festival. Part of the festival includes a drive for the race and sports cars to the town of Falls Village, where a street fair is held on Thursday night. This is a great opportunity for car spotting as you can see from the photos.  The featured marque for the festival and Sunday's concours was Corvette. There were several of the original Corvette prototypes present, I believe from the GM collection. I did not even know that some of these cars still existed. They were there on display all week, quite a site. Lots of Corvettes on the track too, including an original Grand Sport courtesy of the Revs Institute, amazing car. The weather was great until Monday when things got a bit damp. In all it was a another great festival, looking forward to next year when it is rumored that MG will be the featured marque, as it is considered the 100th anniversary of MG. Here are some photos of the week.
