First of the Season Cars & Coffee for 2022!

The Abingdon Spares spring Cars & Coffee was held on April 16, 2022. Cool spring weather and an overcast sky did little to dampen the enthusiasm or the turnout for this event! More than 60 cars made the trip down to Deep River for the morning. The sky brightened a bit but hats and jackets were still the order of the day. Folks filled the parking lot across the street (we had to move the event for space reasons in our own parking lot) with a double row of sports cars, hot rods and classics, heavy on the LBCs but certainly an interesting mix as always. The parking lot was populated with Austin Healeys, a Ford Model A, a VW, several 356 Porsches, one Ferrari, one Lamborghini, one Lotus, several Volvos, a classic Thunderbird, a Miata, and many others. Of course the MG marque was the dominate one, with MGA, MGB, MGBGT and of course the T-Types all well represented. We even had a surprise special guest as Wayne Carini stopped by with his fantastic SS 100 (Jaguar), the former Dave Garroway car, now meticuloulsly restored complete with the new alligator leather interior!

It was good to see everyone out for a drive so early in the year, but British Car enthusiasts are a hardy bunch to begin with! An impressive number or cars came top down too! It was great to see so many folks that we have not seen in a while, renewing old friendships and of course swaping the inevitable car stories. Hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer for the next one! Unfortunately, car photos look better on sunny days, but I have included a bunch of shots to show the variety of cars. Some photos are also by Bill Brauch, our intrepid MG photographer. Stay tuned for our next Cars & Coffee later in the season.
