Cars & Coffee, New Hampshire style

Abingdon Spares went to visit Historic Motor Sports in Candia NH this past Saturday for a few reasons. For one, who doesn’t want to drive 3 hours for free coffee and doughnuts? We haven’t been up to see Bob Mitchell, Clarke Taylor and Earl Tucker since the British Reliability run in September.

They always have interesting automobiles for sale and others lurking in their shop as well. They did have a MG TD in inventory, black with biscuit interior and in very, very nice condition. The paint is perfect and the mechanicals are all ready to go as you can see in the photos.

The other reason? They have Victress C3 undergoing a complete restoration. Never heard of a Victress C3?? most car folks haven’t either, they estimate roughly 35 or so exist. They were manufactured by the Victress Body Company of North Hollywood, CA. They made the fiberglass body, you supplied everything else. Merrill Powell designed the body in 1955, its years ahead of any other car body of that period from a styling standpoint. We also have a Victress C3, here at Abingdon Spares, also being restored and it’s great to be able to inspect another one to see how different people built them. Clarke’s will be on a Corvette C1 frame with a Chevrolet 283 powering it. Ours is on a 55 Chevrolet frame with a 327 in it. Judging from Clarks past work, this car will be 100 point or close to it show car, ours will be a very fun driver.

The trip was well worth the drive, we met some of our own New Hampshire T-Type customers , and enjoyed the free coffee and doughnuts!
