Abingdon Spares January Tech Session

Abingdon Spares January Tech Session

A couple of dozen MG enthusiasts braved the January weather to attend our first tech session of the season on Saturday, January 12th! Folks warmed up with coffee and donuts while Jon Day from the Connecticut MG Club gave us a demonstration tech session on how to recover your seats, specifically a later MGB seat. Jon is quite a talented MG restorer, and his presentation showed us all some tricks and techniques for this DIY project. His presentation, while using an MGB seat, showed techniques that apply to most all recovering kits of this type. This informal style session allowed the attendees to freely ask questions and really see what is involved in this type of project. Jon finished up one complete seat during the session. Most of the folks left feeling a bit more confident about tackling their own upholstery projects. We concluded the get together with everyone's favorite part, a pizza lunch!
Participants were asked to contribute non-perishable food items on the day of the tech session. Thanks to their generosity the club was able to donate 70 pounds of food to the Deep River Food Pantry. In all a good day for the LBC community, breaking up the winter doldrums here in the northeast.

Our next tech session is scheduled for February 16th, watch this space for details. Here are a few photos of the day.
