New England MGT Register's Kimber Festival, April 28, 29, 2023

New England MGT Register's Kimber Festival, at the Simeone Museum in Philadelphia. The Kimber Festival brings together enthusiasts who have a keen interest in M.G. history. Organized as an academic conference, the program consists of presentations about all M.G.s with topics that may include design and production, technical discussions, competitors and competitions and more. You do not need to be a NEMGTR member to present or attend. All MG enthusiasts are welcome!

New Owners Tech Session, May 6th, 2023

Postponed to later in the season, all who have already registered will be contacted with the new date.

10 am - 12 noon

This will be a low key event for new MG owners only. This is designed for new and first time MG owners. If you have questions about your MG, maintenance, general upkeep and DIY projects, this is an event for you. We will have a number of MG experts on hand to answer your questions. We want you to understand your MG, which adds to the enjoyment!

We will be discussing “basic” functions and systems of the MGB and MG T-Types, much of it applicable to MGAs and Midgets. Bring your MG if you want, but not necessary, we will have examples here. This will be an opportunity to ask those questions about your car, and about what you can and cannot do. We will have some assemblies available for you to do “hands on” wrenching.

Attendance will be limited, pre-registration is mandatory, you must register to attend, there is no cost for the tech session.

May 14th, 2022, SU Carburetor Guru Joe Curto Tech Session

World renowned SU Carburetor Expert Joe Curto will once again be at Abingdon Spares on Saturday, May 14, 10 am to noon. Joe will cover the main type of SU carbs for our British Cars, explaining the details and answering your questions. This is a very informative presentation, which was very well attended the last time he was here. Joe is a wealth of knowledge and information on the history, function, and tuning of the SU fuel systems. Bring your questions, (bring your carburetors if so inclined!)  Hope to see you there. Cars & Coffee October 16th!

Join us at Abingdon Spares for Cars & Coffee, and conversation on Saturday morning, October 16th from 9-11 am. This might be the last one of the season so come and join the crowd. Hopefully it will be a nice fall day for a drive. Bring your sports car or "come as you are", all are welcome! Rain Date will be Sunday, October 17th, but only if Saturday is a total washout. Cars & Coffee, July 17th, 2021

This is scheduled to happen Saturday, weather looks good for the morning. See you there!

Join us for an informal Cars & Coffee gathering at Abingdon Spares, Saturday July 17th , (rain date, Sunday July 18th)  from 9 - 11 am, starting earlier before it gets too hot! We will have coffee and snacks. 

Bring your British Car to Abingdon Spares, 900 Industrial Park Road, Deep River, CT. We had a great crowd back in May, hopefully we can do the same o better! Show off your latest project, or tell us about your next one!  A good day to break out the LBC and enjoy the ride. 

Keep in mind that a portion of RT 80 is closed between Deep River center and the intersection with Warsaw Street. Best way here from north is 154 to Kelsey Hill Road, then right on Warsaw Street. From south east, follow Main Street in Centerbrook to Warsaw Street in Deep River. Both are nice roads for sports cars.

Join us for an informal Cars & Coffee gathering at Abingdon Spares, Saturday April 24th , (rain date, Sunday April 25th)  from 10 – 12 noon.

Bring your British Car, and your coffee, to Abingdon Spares, 900 Industrial Park Road, Deep River, CT. Show off your winter project, or tell us about your spring project! We don’t know if the situation will be much better than last year, but Vax-up, Mask-up, and make the best of it! A good day to break out the LBC and enjoy the ride. Hopefully it will be a nice day for a ride over and back! If anyone wants to plan a short ride afterwards, let us know.

As the weather forecast is not cooperating, Cars and NO Coffee with Wayne Carini has been moved to Sunday, May 24th, same time, same place. Please join us for an interesting sunny Sunday morning gathering.
We will have a Model A vs a Truimph Super 9 comparison, Wayne Carini with one of his newest resorations, and hopefully many LCBs to admire! Masks required and social distancing in force, we want a safe and enjoyable occasion.

MG New Owners Tech Session

Abingdon Spares and Farmington Motor Sports will be sponsoring a tech session on Saturday, April 4th, at Farmington Motorsports, 146 Brickyard Road, Farmington, CT 06032. This tech session is designed for new MG owners and those considering purchasing an MG.  This is not intended for those looking to get deep into MG maintenance, modifications, etc. We want to give “newbies” an opportunity to learn about their new car and ask questions about the care and maintenance of MGs. It will also focus on purchasing an MG, what to look for as far as originality, mechanical conditions, and potential problems to avoid.

The tech session will run from 9 till 1 at Farmington Motor Sports. Bring your questions, and if so inclined, bring your MG! Hope to see you there.

AACA Annual Fall Meet, Hershey, PA

October 8 thru October 12, 2019 

The AACA Annual Fall Meet is one of the biggest, longest running and most amazing Swap Meet, Flea Market, Auto Show, in the country, you name it, if it has to do with antique and classic automobiles and automobilia, you can find it at Hershey! For many this is an annual pilgrimage, for others it is a once in a lifetime "bucket list" event. Abingdon Spares will be setup in the Orange Field again this year, next to the NEMGT Register Tent. Please stop by and say hello and maybe find that part for your MG T-Type or MGB you have been looking for! Abingdon Spares will be closed for phone order that week, but you can order ahead and pick it up at Hershey if you like. Hope to see you there!

CT British Reliability Run

Abingdon Spares is once again a sponsor and participating team on the Connecticut British Reliability Run, September 27th-29th. We will be traveling thru CT, and NY to the Finger Lakes Region. Abingdon Spares will again be attending the CT MG Club’s “British by the Sea” British Car and Bike Gathering. This is a “Popular Vote” event, held rain or shine. The featured marque is the Classic Mini. There will be classes for all the popular British marques, and awards for each class as well as Best of Show MG, and Best of Show Classic Mini.
One of the largest all British gatherings on the east coast. Come join in with the hundreds of British cars and bikes for what is an outstanding event held on the southern Connecticut coast, The display field has a spectacular view of Long Island Sound.

Wayne Carini of "Chasing Classic Cars", will be joining us for Cars and Coffee on Saturday, May 11th, at our shop in Deep River, CT. The Kimber Festival 2019

April 12 - April 13

The 2019 Kimber Festival, sponsored by The New England MG T Register, will be held at the Simeone Museum in Philadelphia, PA.  Friday registration starts at 1 pm Friday at the Simeone Museum. You’ll be able to do a museum visit before the flea market, dinner and Kimber birthday celebration. Registration forms will be available on the website, www.nemgtr.org, or email kfest2019@nemgtr.org with your questions. All MG and British car enthusiasts are welcome to join us at this event.
